'

General Information

Our newest web-based course offers complete CPT-4, ICD-9 (vol. 1 & 2), and HCPCS coding that is designed to re-introduce common coding skills that we often forget and present you with advanced skills necessary to maintain coding accuracy and compliance. With HIPAA regulations on the way, you must be prepared. This course will allow you to evaluate the knowledge of your staff and simultaneously educate them with new and valuable skills via the convenient and fun interaction of the Internet. The program is self-paced and allows students to start anytime and work from any internet connected computer.

For those of you who are trying to advance farther in the coding industry, this course will give you the knowledge needed to do so. You will be provided with information on issues like compliance and reimbursement, code-by-code details and using the Internet as a resource. Not only will you advance in your knowledge, but you will also be more confident in your abilities. You can take this web-based course in the privacy of your own home or office without neglecting your family or work obligations.

The American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) study guide for the Certified Professional Coder (CPC) examination will be included at the end of the course. You will receive a frameable certificate from the school where you registered and also be prepared to sit for the CPC exam whenever you choose. This means you have two possible certificates from this course.

Course Description

There have many changes in the coding and billing industry and many more to come. To conquer the coding and billing "game," certain skills must be acquired and maintained. This course has been designed to increase the skills of personnel in the front office as well as the physicians- those coding even the most extensive procedures.

Complete details in CPT-4, ICD-9-CM, and HCPCS coding will be covered along with information on the Correct Coding Initiative (CCI), compliance and reimbursement issues, E&M guidelines and much more. Code by code details and tips are provided to ensure that the most in-depth knowledge is acquired. As a result, there will be increased accuracy in code selections causing a smoother billing process with quicker and better reimbursement. More detailed information about the course can be found in the "Course Outline".

Not only does this course give you "move at your own pace" flexibility, it offers complete and accurate instruction which will help improve knowledge, skills, compliance and reimbursement. Included with the program you will receive the helpful CPC study guide to finish preparation for the Certified Professional Procedural Coder exam.

Course Objectives

As a prerequisite to this course, a basic understanding of the CPT-4 (CPT), ICD-9-CM (ICD-9) and HCPCS coding principles should already be established. There will be brief introductions involving the "basics" of coding and then will span out to include the more in-depth information.

How the Online Course Works:

  • Students begin when they wish
  • Students are assigned an instructor for one-on-one assistance
  • Students move at their own pace
  • The student work is evaluated; a 70% is required for a certificate
  • Students should complete the course within 90 days but may request an additional 90-day extension
  • Students will receive a certificate from the school upon successful completion

The courses are self-paced. The instructors respond to the student, not the other way around. Each course has a set of lessons and exams.
