DM 3969: Nutrition Therapy (Part I & II)

In this diet therapy course, you will use your understanding of basic nutrition concepts in a health care setting by applying medical nutrition therapy to various diseases. Plus, you will learn the basics of nutrition assessment and care, the fundamentals of proper documentation, residents' rights and the federal regulations.

Part I : Nutritional care, including weight management, community health, and physical fitness.

  • Format: Online, Mail, CD-ROM
  • Number of Lessons: 4
  • CEUs or Clock Hours: 24 (DMA).
  • Textbook: Nix, S. William's Basic Nutrition and Diet Therapy. (2005). 12th ed. St. Louis, MO: Mosby.
    This textbook can be ordered through MBS Direct. Ask for UND Certificate Programs, Nutrition Therapy for Dietary Personnel (#DM3969).
  • Fees: $110 fee plus cost of textbook and $15 shipping/handling.

Part II : Nutrition management of diseases and surgery, and nutrient-drug interactions. Pre-requisite: Part I

  • Format: Online, Mail, CD-ROM
  • Number of Lessons: 4

How to Register

Registration is easy:

  • Print out and complete the application and submit it by mail or fax.

  • Apply in person at Gustafson Hall on the University of North Dakota campus.

Note: Registration will not be processed until payment is received unless prior arrangements have been made with the Office of Certificate Programs.

** This is one of two courses that can be used to fulfill the core course requirement in the nutrition therapy certificate program.
