Course Description

The HIPAA Compliance course provides HIPAA Training for Health Care Professionals including a comprehensive overview of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) from a health care professional's viewpoint. The course focuses specifically on the HIPAA Privacy regulations which are the major focus of most health care providers. HIPAA Compliance also includes an overview of the overall HIPAA regulations. This course was designed to satisfy the mandatory training component of HIPAA Privacy for a health care organization's staff.


Course Objectives

  • Understand what HIPAA is
  • Learn the purpose of HIPAA
  • Understand the key features of HIPAA
  • Understand what entities are affected by HIPAA
  • Appreciate the types of standards HIPAA affects and understands the areas affected by the standards' proposed rules
  • Understand the purpose of electronic standardization of transactions, code sets, and unique identifiers
  • Recognize the difference between privacy security
  • Appreciate the impact of new privacy rules related to HIPAA
  • Understand the cost and savings associated with HPAA
  • Learn the implementation of dates of and penalties of noncompliance to HIPAA regulations
  • Understand how HIPAA will impact you and your organization
  • Understand the general process to implement HIPAA compliance in your organization

How the Online Course Works:

  • Students begin when they wish
  • Students are assigned an instructor for one-on-one assistance
  • Students move at their own pace
  • All materials are included
  • The student work is evaluated; a 70% is required for a certificate
  • Students should complete the course within 90 days but may request an additional 90-day extension
  • Students will receive a certificate from the school upon successful completion

The courses are self-paced. The instructors respond to the student, not the other way around. Each course has a set of lessons and exams.

Tuition for this program is $599 per person.
