for deed, evictions, marketable record title affidavit,

About the Course Authors:
Grant H. Shaft, J.D., is an attorney at law with Shaft, Reis and Shaft in Grand Forks.
He graduated from the University of North Dakota Law School and was admitted to the North
Dakota State Bar Association in 1986. He specializes in commercial real estate, residential real
estate, and title insurance. He is a member of the State Bar Association of
North Dakota (Member, Title Standards Committee; Chairman, Real
Property, Probate and Trust Section; Member, Board of Governors),
American Bar Association, and the American College of Real Estate
Lawyers.
Connie R. Bateman, D.B.A., joined the Department of
Marketing at the University of North Dakota in 1995 as an Assistant
Professor, was tenured in 2001, and was promoted to Associate
Professor in 2004. She earned a Doctorate in Business Administration
(1998) in Marketing from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale as well as an MBA (1990),
B.S. in Psychology (1989), and B.A. in Sociology (1989) from UND. Her research focuses on
managerial and consumer decision-making processes, ethical behaviors and reasoning processes.
Along with Dr. John P. Fraedrich, Jannetides Professor of Business Ethics at SIUC, she received
a Best Paper Award for their collaborative research about the framing effects on the ethical
decision-making process.
