Textbooks
Order through Barnes and Noble Bookstore
Order your textbooks early to ensure you
have them in time to begin your course. Textbooks are available through
Barnes and Noble on the UND campus or online at www.whywaitforbooks.com .

The system will prompt you to register, but will also let you check out
as a guest. The benefit of registering is that you will be able to revisit
your order if you need to make a change.
You can use your financial aid charge account at the bookstore during the
fall and spring semesters. To do so, make sure to enter your EMPLID number
in the required field.
Your textbooks can be shipped, or you can choose to pick them up at the
UIND Barnes and Noble campus bookstore prior to the start of classes.

Description:
The central purpose of this course is threefold: (a) to provide current information
related to the chronic stressors experienced by caregivers for and family members
of persons with ASD, (b) to provide current information regarding career/vocational
options as related to transition from high school through adult life (e.g.,
young adults, middle-aged adults, and older adults), and (c) to provide current
information regarding legal issues related to the provision of lifelong supports
for persons with ASD.
(Prerequisites
are T&L 560 Introduction to Autistic
Spectrum Disorder and T&L 561 Methods for Autistic Spectrum Disorder.)

Description:
The central purpose of this course is to examine the role and future of
medicine and medically oriented interventions for
persons with ASD. Included in the course are discussions
of issues related to conducting wellness examinations
with persons with ASD, medication treatments available
currently and those currently being studied.

Description: The central focus of this course is on students who function at the upper end
of the spectrum. Thus it provides parents, teachers, and caregivers of individuals
with Asperger Syndrome (AS) the knowledge necessary to work effectively with
persons with AS across the lifespan. (Prerequisites are T&L 560 Introduction
to Autistic Spectrum Disorder and T&L 561 Methods for Autistic Spectrum
Disorder or the instructor's permission.)

Description: This is an elective course in the sequence of interdisciplinary courses focusing
on children with autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) birth to age six. Topics addressed
will include basic characteristics of children with ASD birth to age six, the
developmental implications for these children and their families, and research
supported early interventions utilizing a family centered approach with an emphasis
on natural learning opportunities. (Prerequisite: T&L 560 Introduction to
Autistic Spectrum Disorders, 2 credit hours, graduate, and T&L 561 Methods
for Autistic Spectrum Disorders, 2 credit hours, graduate, or permission of
instructor.) |
