Tuition and Fees

The following chart lists the tuition and fees for the Distance Engineering Degree Program courses. The tuition is based on residency.

The second column (Resident) should be used in figuring approximate tuition and fees if you are a North Dakota resident or active duty military. Military students need to fill out a ND residency application online

The third column (Reciprocity) should be used in figuring approximate tuition and fees if you are a Minnesota resident and you are eligible for Minnesota reciprocity. A form must be completed and submitted by the student prior to registering for Distance Engineering courses. If a reciprocity form is not submitted and approved by the State of Minnesota, students residing in Minnesota will be billed the Non-Resident amount (last column).

The fourth column (WUE/MHEC/Contiguous) should be used if you claim residency in one of the following states or provinces: AK, AZ, CA, CO, HI, ID, KS, MI, MO, MT, NE, NV, NM, OR, SD, UT, WA, WY, Manitoba, Saskatchewan.

The fifth column (Non-Resident) should be used in figuring approximate tuition and fees if you are a non-resident and do not fall within any other category.

A fee that is not included in the amounts listed below is the Professional Program Fee for the engineering programs. This fee will be one of two amounts: $25 if you have less than 60 credits on your UND transcript (including transfer credit transferring from another college/university) or $12.50/credit hour if you have 60 or more credits on your UND transcript (including transfer credit from another college/university).

The tuition and fees are subject to change without notice.

Payment Policy

Statements are not mailed.
To access your business account, financial aid and registration information go to Student Account Services

All balances due must be paid by the deadline unless a deferment is arranged with the Student Account Services. For Fall and Spring semester a late payment penalty of $200 will be assessed to all students who have not paid their tuition and fees or received a deferment by the deadline. (Note: Do not assume you will be dropped if you don't pay). A registered student will assume the financial obligation for their University charges. Students need to officially drop/withdraw if unable to attend. Questions regarding tuition and fee payment may be directed to the Student Account Services at 701.777.3911.
Tuition and fees are subject to change without notice.

Refund/Drop/Withdrawal Policy

Distance Engineering Degree Program students are required to follow University of North Dakota, state and federal guidelines for refunds for dropping a class and withdrawing from a semester. The policy for refunds, drops and withdrawals is listed below.

Dropping a Course

When a student is registered for two courses and due to unforeseen circumstances will not be able to complete one of the courses (but will continue enrollment in the other class), the student is dropping the course.

Refunds for Class Changes

Students dropping a class before 9% of the period of enrollment for the class is completed shall receive a 100% refund of tuition and fees for the credit hours attributable to the class or classes dropped. There shall be no refunds for partial drops after completion of 9% of the period of enrollment. However, classes of the same or fewer credits may be substituted at no additional tuition/fee charge. If the substituted class requires a special course fee, the student will be assessed that charge. This does not apply to credit correspondence courses.

Withdrawing from all Classes

When a student is registered for one or more courses through any combination of Distance Engineering, correspondence and online studies, on-campus and/or Cooperatiave Education program and due to unforeseen circumstances will not be able to complete any of the courses, the student is withdrawing from the semester.

Refunds for Withdrawing from the University

The following refund schedule will be followed for withdrawals.
Please note: The deadline for registrations is one week prior to the start of classes.
