Undergraduate Admission

The application process is started one year before each term. The earlier you apply and are admitted, the more options you'll have for financial aid, scholarships, registering and classes.

Go online to the Admission Estimator at http://go.und.edu/admission-estimator/index.asp where you'll see what GPA and standardized scores you need to be automatically admitted.

Graduate Admission

Step 1 --Apply online for UND admission. If you have questions about your admission process, please call toll free 877.450.1842 and ask for graduate admissions. Apply for Graduate Admissions online at https://apply.embark.com/grad/northdakota

Step 2 --Request two official copies of all academic transcripts. including undergraduate and graduate courework. They must arrive in envelopes sealed by the Registrar.

It is up to each student to ensure that the transcripts are received in the UND Graduate School Admissions Office.

You will be able to see when and if the material has been received by the UND Graduate School.

UND Campus Connection
Campus Connection can be used to view your list of enrolled courses, view your account balance, view your grades, as well as many other features. The university (business office, registrar’s office, etc.) will only use U-mail to notify students of important dates, deadlines, and statements. Payment Policy
Statements are not mailed.
To access your business account, financial aid and registration information go to http://www.und.edu/dept/studentaccounts/

All balances due must be paid by the deadline unless a deferment is arranged with the Student Financial Aid Office. They can be contacted at 701.777.3121. For Fall and Spring semester a late payment penalty of $200 will be assessed to all students who have not paid their tuition and fees or received a deferment by the deadline. Students who have not paid their tuition and fees by the deadline may be canceled and will not be allowed to re-register for that semester. (Note: Do not assume you will be dropped if you don't pay.) A registered student will assume the financial obligation for their University charges. Students need to officially drop/withdraw if unable to attend. Questions regarding tuition and fee payment may be directed to Student Account Services at 701.777.3911.

Textbooks

Textbooks

Order through Barnes and Noble Bookstore

Order your textbooks early to ensure you have them in time to begin your course.  Textbooks are available through Barnes and Noble on the UND campus or online at www.whywaitforbooks.com .

1. Select North Dakota
2. Select University of North Dakota
3. Select the term of your course
4. Select the department of your course
5. Select your course by course number
6. Select your section by using the class number
    found on your Campus Connection course schedule
7. Click Add Course
8. Click View Textbook List on the right
     to select which textbook(s) you wish to purchase and checkout

The system will prompt you to register, but will also let you check out as a guest. The benefit of registering is that you will be able to revisit your order if you need to make a change.

You can use your financial aid charge account at the bookstore during the fall and spring semesters. To do so, make sure to enter your EMPLID number in the required field.

Your textbooks can be shipped, or you can choose to pick them up at the UIND Barnes and Noble campus bookstore prior to the start of classes.

Dropping/Withdrawing/Refunds

Dropping a class means changing your course load but staying enrolled in at least one course.

If you drop a full semester class within the first 9 days of the semester you will receive a 100% refund of tuition and fees. After that deadline there is no refund for a class which is dropped. However, classes of the same or fewer credits may be substituted at no additional tuition/fee charge if the substitution is completed at the same time of droppped class. If the substituted class requires a special course fee, the student will be assessed that charge.

Students Formally Withdrawing from the University

Withdrawing from the University means you are withdrawing from all courses.

Tuition and Fees

Student tuition, student fees and program fees will apply.

Pay Online electronically via CampusConnnection . Online payments via CampusConnection can be made by:

  • electronic transfer (eCheck) of the payment amount from your checking or bank savings account.
  • a credit card charge for the amount of your payment plus a service charge.

e-Check: If you choose to transfer funds from a bank account, your payment will be posted to your University student account on the same day, if you submit the payment before 5:00 PM Central Standard Time.

Credit Card: You may also choose to make a payment with your MasterCard, Discover, or American Express credit card (VISA is not a participant).

  • Credit card payment is available only as an online service via CampusConnection. The University will not accept credit card payments on student accounts through the mail, in person, or over the telephone.
  • If you or your authorized payer chooses the credit card option, you will be required to pay a non-refundable service charge per transaction. The service charge is 2.75% (min. $3) of the payment amount. For example, if you make a $500 payment with a credit card, you will be assessed $13.75.
  • The service charge will appear as a separate line item on your credit card statement. All costs for choosing to pay with a credit card must be assumed by the student/authorized payer. The University does not receive, nor will it underwrite, any portion of the service charge.
  • You will make your credit card payment through the services of a University vendor, TouchNet, on their secure web site. Directions are provided online.

You can easily set up authorized payers to make payments on your behalf.

Pay by Mail - To ensure timely crediting of your payment, make your check or money order payable to the University of North Dakota. Write your student ID number on your check or money order. Checks should be written in US dollars only. UND does not accept checks written in foreign currency, including Canadian currency unless "Payable in US Funds" is written on the check. The University of North Dakota is not responsible for any delay in processing of mailed payments that are delayed due to any mail service provider.

Pay by Wire Transfer - Payment may be made by wire transfer by contacting Sandie in Student Account Services at 701-777-3080 or sandiebrelie@mail.und.nodak.edu . The following information is required with the wire transfer:

  • Student name
  • Student ID number
  • Where the payment is to be applied (IE accounts receivable, aviation flight account)

The bank may assess a fee for the wire service; the student is responsible for all fees and should confirm with the bank at the time of the transfer that the amount wired to UND will not be reduced by the assessed fees.

Purchase orders and vouchers are accepted by pre-approved companies.

Transcripts

For your protection, an “official” copy of your transcript will not be released without your signature, authorizing the release of an official transcript. Include your name, address, social security or ID number and sign the request. The cost per transcript is $5.00.

U Card (Student ID)

Guidelines for distance students wishing to request a U Card

  • 1. Submit a digital photo via CD/floppy disk to the following address:
    U Card Office, 3625 Campus Road Stop 9043, Grand Forks ND 58202 or electronically to:teresablilie@mail.und.edu unless otherwise specified
  • 2. Digital photo specifications include:
    *jpg format
    *File name should be current EMPL/User ID number or Person's name
    *8-bit color
    *Range of width between 270 - 420 pixels
    *7 width by 8 height ratio
    *photo must be taken against a WHITE background
    *photo must be in portrait format to include very top of shoulders and up
    *photo must NOT include hats or sunglasses
  • 3. A second file should also be sent with the image of a scanned copy of the cardholder's government issued photo ID for verification purposes and old ID card if available. Photo copies will also be accepted via USPS.
  • 4. For Staff only, if a scanned image of the government issued photo ID is not available, the employee's direct supervisor or director of the department must sign off in agreement that a government photo has been viewed by a higher university official.
  • 5. Also included should be:
    full legal name
    date of birth
    new EMPL/User ID number
    and an address where the U Card should be mailed to once completed.
  • 6. The U Card Manager or Assistant Manager will then adjust or modify images if needed prior to importing to the video imaging software.
  • 7. All persons receiving the U Card through a digital process are subject to all terms and conditions of the U Card which can be found on our website.

Student Financial Aid

Who is eligible?

  • Financial aid is made available to students, who, without such help, would be unable to attend the University.
  • A regularly admitted, degree-seeking student.
  • A student who is enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours).

Adult Re-Entry

The UND Adult Re-Entry Center’s purpose is to assist and support the nontraditional student as they navigate the many challenges of returning to college. In addition adult learners may come for information, re-entry assistance, and advocacy. Our goal is to provide students with options that will enhance their educational experience at UND and encourage personal and academic success.
