tasks in human service settings, including both administrative
and clinical functions.
SWK 560 - Advanced Issues in Aging - 1 credit
Prerequisite:
Admission into the Advanced Generalist Concentration.
This course will provide an overview of the experience
of older people in society, including social, psychological,
physical, cultural, economic, environmental and gender
issues that effect, and are affected by, the senior
population in the process of aging.
SWK 560 - Clinical Diagnosis - 1 credit
Prerequisite:
Admission into the Advanced Generalist Concentration.
The Diagnostic Statistical Manual (DSM-IV-TR) is used
as an organizing framework for reviewing major mental
disorders. Students will use critical thinking to begin
the development of differential diagnostic skills.
SWK 560 - Sexual Minority Issues (GLBT) - 1 credit
Prerequisite:
Admission into the Advanced Generalist Concentration.
This course will provide students with an overview
of issues particular to LGBTQ community, and to assist
in improving skills in students' ability to practice
with people who identify as LGBTQ and advocate for
social change on this community's behalf.
SWK 560 - School Social Work - 1 credit
Prerequisite:
Admission into the Advanced Generalist Concentration.
This course will provide an overview of School Social
Work including the history, current framework, special
education system and unique ethical issues that arise
in this setting.
SWK 560 - Post Traumatic Stress Disorder - 1 credit
Prerequisite:
Admission into the Advanced Generalist Concentration.
This course will explore Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
from a clinical perspective including, diagnostic criteria,
pervasiveness and best practice treatment. Particular
focus will be placed on the impact of returning Veterans.
SWK 580 - AGP Field Instruction I - 5 credits
Prerequisite: Admission to field. Corequisite: SWK
581. Advanced generalist field practicum placement
in human service organization, focusing on application
of advanced level knowledge, values, and skills in
the context of an organization, development of professional
self, and evaluation of practice. S/U grading only.
SWK 581 - AGP Field Seminar I - 1 credit
Corequisite: SWK 580. Integration of other coursework into field practice. Regular

SWK 582 - AGP Field Instruction II - 5 credits
