The admission deadline for the Advanced Generalist MSW is November 15, 2008
for courses work beginning May 2009.
The Department of Social Work will be reviewing additional admission dates
for new cohorts due to increased interest in the online program. Please provide

The next admission deadline for BSW students will be November 15, 2010, for
Advanced Generalist MSW coursework beginning May 2011.
The next admission deadline for Non BSW students will be June 15, 2011, for
Foundation MSW coursework beginning January 2012.

MSW
Foundation Program of Study for Non BSW Students
The online MSW Distance Program consists of the
following requirements:
- Successful completion of 60 credit hours of courses with at least a
3.0 GPA. The number of electives required is dependent on whether you
select the independent study or the thesis option.
- The development of a program of study
with a faculty advisor during your second semester
of advanced generalist concentration courses.
- Completion of:
- Foundation courses (24 credit hours)
- Advanced generalist concentration courses (36
credit hours)
- Independent Study (Non-Thesis) Option:
an independent study (SWK 997) and a final
comprehensive exam completed in the last
semester of enrollment
- Thesis Option: a thesis (SWK 998)

Completion of at least 45 semester
credits with UND. Transfer credits must be obtained
in a CSWE (Council of Social Work Education)
accredited program, and a maximum of 15 credits
will be allowed for transfer.
- As an online student, you will need
to meet the residency requirement that will include
brief on-campus visits during the first two years
of your program.
MSW Advanced Standing Program of Study
The MSW Program consists of the following requirements:
- Satisfactory completion of the advanced generalist concentration
courses (36 credit hours) with at least a 3.0 GPA.
The number of electives required is dependent on whether you select
the independent study or the thesis option.
- The development of a program of study with a faculty advisor
during your second semester of advanced generalist
concentration courses.
- Completion of:
- Advanced generalist concentration courses
- Independent Study (Non-Thesis) Option: an independent
study (SWK 997) and a final comprehensive exam completed
in the last semester of enrollment
- Thesis Option: a thesis (SWK 998)
- Completion of at least 30 semester credits with UND. Transfer
credits must be obtained in a CSWE (Council of Social
Work Education) accredited program, and a maximum
of 6 credits will be allowed for transfer.
- As an online student, you will need to meet a residency requirement
