Note:
Applications for the non-BSW Program are no longer being accepted for course work beginning January 2009.

The admission deadline for the Advanced Generalist MSW is November 15, 2008 for courses work beginning May 2009.

The Department of Social Work will be reviewing additional admission dates for new cohorts due to increased interest in the online program. Please provide your contact information so that you receive future announcements and updates about the online, part-time MSW program admission deadlines, please send us an e-mail with your name, address, daytime phone and e-mail address to undonline@mail.und.edu

The next admission deadline for BSW students will be November 15, 2010, for Advanced Generalist MSW coursework beginning May 2011.

The next admission deadline for Non BSW students will be June 15, 2011, for Foundation MSW coursework beginning January 2012.

Registration for Summer Semester and Fall Semester begins April 1, 2008

Must be a UND admitted student before registering for any classes.

Tuition and fee statements are not mailed.
Summer Session Tuition and Fees are due by June 20, 2008

Access your account balance, financial aid, review your registration information and print a receipt through Campus Connection at http://www.und.nodak.edu/dept/registrar/campusconnection
     Navigate to your account information by clicking the following:

Textbooks

Order through Barnes and Noble Bookstore

Order your textbooks early to ensure you have them in time to begin your course.  Textbooks are available through Barnes and Noble on the UND campus or online at www.whywaitforbooks.com .

1. Select North Dakota
2. Select University of North Dakota
3. Select the term of your course
4. Select the department of your course
5. Select your course by course number
6. Select your section by using the class number
    found on your Campus Connection course schedule
7. Click Add Course
8. Click View Textbook List on the right
     to select which textbook(s) you wish to purchase and checkout

The system will prompt you to register, but will also let you check out as a guest. The benefit of registering is that you will be able to revisit your order if you need to make a change.

You can use your financial aid charge account at the bookstore during the fall and spring semesters. To do so, make sure to enter your EMPLID number in the required field.

Your textbooks can be shipped, or you can choose to pick them up at the UIND Barnes and Noble campus bookstore prior to the start of classes.

 


SWK 560 - Advanced Issues in Aging - 1 credit

Dates: May 20, 2008 - 6-8 PM

Description: Prerequisite: Admission into the Advanced Generalist Concentration. This course will provide an overview of the experience of older people in society, including social, psychological, physical, cultural, economic, environmental and gender issues that effect, and are affected by, the senior population in the process of aging.


SWK 560 - Supervision - 1 credit

Dates: May 31, June 14, June 28, 2008 - 8:30-11:30 AM
Instructor: Roger Johnson

Description: Prerequisite: Admission into the Advanced Generalist Concentration. Supervisory tasks in human service settings, including both administrative and clinical functions.


SWK 560 - Clinical Practice - 1 credit

Dates: May 28, June 18, July 9, 2008 - 6-9 PM
Instructor: Carol Schneweis

Description: Prerequisite: Admission into the Advanced Generalist Concentration. The Diagnostic Statistical Manual (DSM-IV-TR) is used as an organizing framework for reviewing major mental disorders. Students will use critical thinking to begin the development of differential diagnostic skills.


SWK 560 - Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual, Transgender - 1 credit

Dates: June 12, June 26, July 10, 2008 - 6-9 PM
Instructor: Bruce Reeves

Description: Prerequisite: Admission into the Advanced Generalist Concentration.
This course will provide students with an overview of issues particular to LGBTQ community, and to assist in improving skills in students' ability to practice with people who identify as LGBTQ and advocate for social change on this community's behalf.


SWK 560 - Post Traumatic Stress Disorder - 1 credit

Dates: Section I - May 27, June 3, 10, 17, 2008 - 6-8 PM
Dates: Section II - June 24, July 1, 15, 22, 2008 - 6-8 PM
Instructors: Randy Nedegaard and Diane Baumbach

Description: Prerequisite: Admission into the Advanced Generalist Concentration.
This course will explore Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from a clinical perspective including, diagnostic criteria, pervasiveness and best practice treatment. Particular focus will be placed on the impact of returning Veterans.


SWK 560 - School Social Work - 1 credit

Dates: May 22, June 19, July 17, 2008 - 6-9 PM
Instructor: Carol Schnewis

Description: Prerequisite: Admission into the Advanced Generalist Concentration.
This course will provide an overview of School Social Work including the history, current framework, special education system and unique ethical issues that arise in this setting.
