BSN Nursing Program Admission Requirements

For the upper division RN/BSN degree completion track, you may apply to UND's undergraduate nursing program after you have completed at least 39 credits of prerequisite coursework at the bachelor's level. To be admitted into the RN/BSN Program, you must have:

  • Nursing diploma or associate degree in nursing from a regionally accredited institution
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 in prior coursework
  • Successful completion of prerequisite coursework in Communication; Social Science; and Math, Science, and Support Courses (see RN/BSN Program of Study link)
  • Current, unencumbered RN license in the United States

Note: If you do not meet these nursing program admission standards, you may be admitted on a provisional basis with continued enrollment contingent on successful completion of prerequisite coursework and/or successful performance in the program.

Steps to Getting Started

IMPORTANT:
  • As an RN who plans to transfer credits to UND for the RN/BSN Program, you will need to follow the undergraduate admission requirements for transfer students.
  • Application to the RN/BSN Program in the College of Nursing is a separate process from the general application to the University of North Dakota.
  • Applications to the RN/BSN Program should not be submitted until your general admission to UND has been accepted.
  • Carefully, review the detailed RN/BSN General Information and Application Form found on the UND College of Nursing Web site.
  • Apply for UND admission as a transfer student first. Read the information for UND Undergraduate Admissions and click on "admission information" at the bottom of the page for specific directions and an online application form. If you have questions about your admission process, please call toll free 1.877.450.1842 and ask for RN/BSN admissions.
  • Once accepted to UND, you will be advised by the RN/BSN advisor in the College of Nursing as to when you are ready to apply to the RN/BSN Program at the College of Nursing.
Must be admitted to UND before registering for any classes.
