UND's course rotation allows you to begin earning
your Master's in Special Education every Fall or
Spring Semester. Applications are accepted on an
ongoing basis, with application review beginning:
Fall Semester - June 1 --- Spring Semester - November

Admission Requirements
Baccalaureate degree in education
or in areas such as social work, communication
disorders, nursing, or physical therapy.
An undergraduate GPA of 2.75 overall
or a GPA of 3.00 in the last two years of your
undergraduate program.
If you have an undergraduate degree
in an area other than education, you must have:
Twelve (12) semester credits of
undergraduate education courses.
Eight (8) semester credits of undergraduate
study in social science or selected humanities
prior to taking graduate level study in education.
Note: If
you do not meet these admission standards, you
may be admitted on a provisional basis with continued
enrollment contingent on successful completion
of pre-requisite coursework and/or successful performance
in the program.
Admission Process
To be admitted to the graduate program, you are
required to submit the following materials to the
UND Graduate School, which then transmits the materials
to the College of Education & Human Development,
Department of Teaching & Learning:
UND Graduate
School Application (apply online at:
www.und.edu/dept/grad)
Three letters of recommendation along
with the Graduate School Recommendation Form:
- One from a supervising teacher (if recently
completed student teaching) OR one from a supervisor
or administrator (i.e., principal, program coordinator)
- One from a colleague who has worked with you
on a professional level
- One from a person of your choosing
Official transcripts from each
institution attended, including undergraduate and
graduate coursework. They must arrive in envelopes
sealed by the registrar.
Graduate School Personal Statement
(follow the Guidelines for the Personal Statement
on the Graduate School Web site) covering:
- Motivation for being a special educator
- Values and beliefs regarding special education
- Experience with diversity
- Qualities that you bring to the profession
- Professional goals
