TO SHOW BOB OUR APPRECIATION . . .
In appreciation and thanks for Bob Boyd's leadership and support of the Division, the DCE Deans and Directors, on behalf of the Division, presented Bob with a hand signed solid pewter bust of Roy Rogers.

Thank you, Bob, for all you do for the Division of Continuing Education!

A ROY ROGERS SURPRISE!
Yesterday I was visited by members of the DCE Cabinet. What I thought was going to be a meeting with Josh and Kim turned into a wonderful surprise. After a few eloquent and overly-generous words of thank you from Josh, I was presented with a wonderful gift of a limited edition of a Roy Rogers cast sculpture. It is beautiful and very much appreciated. Thank you all.

My 18 months of serving with you again was a very special time for me. It was wonderful getting acquainted again and learning first hand about the great accomplishments that the Division makes every day. You are special people and I am very proud to be associated with you.

Bob Boyd

FROM LYNETTE
Thank you for your kind words and support over these past few weeks with my Grandmother Polly's death. She was a wonderful, feisty woman of which we have many wonderful memories. Her service was a true celebration of her life. Also, thank you for the beautiful flowering plant. It was greatly appreciated.

“I HAVE A DREAM . . . .”

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”

When I was in high school, I became enamored of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a fortunate product of the intersection of my youthful idealism with the commitment and dedication of a man who was the epitome of principle and leadership.
I would recommend that you read Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech and his “Letter from Birmingham Jail.” Both are wonderful examples of the power of words to express ideas and to persuade people to act. For a singular experience, listen to a recording of Dr. King’s speech in which the energy and cadence of his delivery transforms his speech into poetry.
Martin Luther King, Jr.’s message is as important today as it was in his time. He spoke from the heart, not from the results of the latest poll. His words were the measure of the content of his character. In our world of special interests and divisiveness, we would do well to hew to his dream of compassion and sacrifice.

SEEKING 60s DECOR AND CLOTHING
I'm helping a friend throw a 60s theme party for his wife who is turning 60 on February 9. Do you have any decor or clothing I could borrow? I'm thinking lava lamps, beads, miniskirts, tie-dye and psychedelic colors... or the "Jackie O" look. Here's some trivia... the 1966 Pillsbury Bake-Off winner was the Tunnel of Fudge Bundt cake...yumm!

MEN’S AND WOMEN’S BRAINS

My husband sent this video to me.
Men's & Women's Brains

It's funny, but it has some truth in it. It's similar to the theory in the book:
Men Are Like Waffles--Women Are Like Spaghetti: Understanding and Delighting in Your Differences by Bill and Pam Farrel.

FULLY-STAGED PRODUCTION OF "CARMINA BURANA" OPENS FEB. 23
"Carmina Burana," by Carl Orff, is set for 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Chester Fritz Auditorium. A spectacle of voice, music, dance and color, this unique concert will feature more than 250 performers from the Greater Grand Forks Symphony Orchestra, Grand Forks Master Chorale, University of North Dakota choirs, and North Dakota Ballet Company. Orff composed the "Carmina" to accompany lyrics drawn from a long-lost 13th Century German manuscript celebrating life, love, and nature. The result: a worldwide favorite, popular even among listeners who ordinarily avoid classical music. Excerpts have been featured in several movies, including "Lord of the Rings," and in broadcasts on radio and television.

NPR is one of many sites to find out more about Carmina Burana: NPR site

Mark your calendar and contact the Chester Fritz Auditorium box office at 777-4090 for ticket information.
