Bob Nelson

Bob Nelson is president of Nelson Motivation Inc., a management training and consulting company located in

San Diego, California that specializes in helping organizations improve their management practices, programs and systems.  He is a co-founder of Recognition Professionals International and previously worked closely with Dr. Ken Blanchard, co-author of The One Minute Manager for 10 years.

Dr. Nelson has sold almost 3 million books on management

and motivation, including 1001 Ways to Reward Employees (now in its 2nd edition), 1001 Ways to Energize Employees,

The 1001 Rewards & Recognition Fieldbook, The Management Bible, and his most recent, Keeping Up in a Down Economy.

He has appeared extensively in the media including CBS 60 Minutes, CNN, MSNBC, PBS, National Public Radio and has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, BusinessWeek, Fortune, and Inc. magazines to discuss how to best motivate today’s employees.

He holds an MBA in organizational behavior from UC Berkeley and received his PhD in management with Dr. Peter F. Drucker at the Drucker Graduate Management School of Claremont Graduate University in Los Angeles, where his doctoral dissertation was on "Factors that Encourage or Inhibit the

Use of Non-Monetary Recognition by U.S. Managers.

 

Ray Weinberg

Raymond B. Weinberg, SPHR, CCP, is a respected human resource practitioner, academic, researcher, author, consultant and speaker with over thirty-five years of experience in the field. He serves on the graduate faculties of four universities and takes an active role in both his profession and his community. He has served on the Boards of the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SPHR) Foundation. At HRCI, he was responsible for examination item development as National Examination Development Director, President and later as a Consultant. He is currently District Director for the Nebraska SHRM State Council.

In 1993, he was recipient of the Award for Professional Excellence by SHRM. This national award is the highest honor in the human resource field. In 1999, he was declared the HR Professional of the Decade in Nebraska.  He is the author of the HRCI Certification Guide and numerous articles in professional journals.

In 1995 he founded the SilverStone Group’s Human Resource Consulting Practice along with Dr. Robert Mathis, SPHR author of the top-selling HR textbook. His practice clients included both top domestic and international organizations.

He is a frequent speaker at many state, regional and national and international conferences. He has spoke at many SHRM National Conferences and in 1999 at the United Nations World Leader’s Summit in Istanbul, Turkey. He challenges audiences with his informed viewpoints on human resources and style of presentation.

He just recently founded MetrapHRases Solutions which translates HR research into workplace practice. This endeavor has been a life-long goal.

He is active in his community serving on numerous boards including the Red Cross, Northwest Rotary, Youth Care & Beyond and the Area Workforce Investment Board. In 1981, he founded the Bicycle Ride Across Nebraska (BRAN) a cross state bicycle ride limited to 600 participants. In his spare time he runs, bicycles, and humbles himself at fly fishing.

Karla Richards

Karla Richards has ten years of human resources experience and currently is the Director, Human Resources at Sysco North Dakota.  She is the ND SHRM Certification Director.

Laurie McIntosh

Laurie is an experienced HR professional with industry experience in health care, consumer packaged goods and banking.  Prior to joining SHRM, she served the organization in a variety of volunteer roles including president of the Human Resource Association of the Midlands (HRAM), a Super Mega chapter in Omaha, NE and State Director of Nebraska’s State Council.

She received her bachelor’s degree in human resource management from College of St. Mary in Omaha, NE and holds a SPHR designation.  Laurie resides in southwestern Iowa and serves the North Central Region, supporting members in IA, MN, NE, ND, SD, and WI. 

Laurie’s primary responsibilities as Field Service Director include managing chapter and state council relationships, serving as a liaison with chapters, state councils and volunteer leaders, and promoting SHRM membership.  Laurie attends State Council meetings and speaks at conferences and chapter events.

John Friend

John is the HR Manager at Cetero Research and directs the day-to-day HR functioning at the East Grand Forks location. He recently received the PHR certification.  

John has been an active volunteer at both the chapter and state levels serving in the roles of Chapter President, Treasurer, and Vice President for NDAHRA. He currently serves on the State Council in the dual roles of College Relations Director and this year's State Conference Director.

Steve Farber
Steve Farber heads an organization devoted to the cultivation and development of Extreme Leaders in the business community.  His newest book, Greater Than Yourself: The Ultimate Lesson of True Leadership, has just been published by Doubleday/Random House.  Steve is a senior-level leadership coach and consultant who has run his own financial services company,  worked at an international training consultancy and for The Tom Peters Company.  Inspiring Extreme Leadership at all organizational levels is Steve's passion,  and he does so with a style that is part strategist, part social commentator, part comedian, and all energy.

 

 

Brett Farmiloe & Zach Hubbell

 

Brett Farmiloe and Zach Hubbell are the social media managers for Jobing.com - the nation's largest, locally-focused provider of employment media.  They are a couple of Gen Y’ers who frequently speak on the topic of how to use social media to attract and retain top talent from Generation Y.


They have interviewed hundreds of leaders and employees in companies like Microsoft, Nike, and EA Sports in a social media intensive project they founded entitled Pursue the Passion (www.pursuethepassion.com).  They also consistently consult with companies, organizations, and associations on how to incorporate and implement a social media strategy that best benefits their business.

 

 

Patrick Gallagher

Patrick Gallagher is the CEO and co-owner of Corporate Adventures.  Patrick has been consulting in North Dakota for over 10 years, consuling more than 400 clients, located among 15 states, reaching more than 20,000 participants.  Patrick primarily facilitates and consults utilizing materials from three foundational programs: DiSC - The Language of Business, The 5 Dysfunctions of a Team, and The Leadership Challenge.  Patrick co-authored a book in 2006 called The A to Z Guide to Experiential Training and Development and is currently working on a new book called Death by Management - A Management Engagement Methods Guide. Patrick holds a Bachelor's in Education and a Masters in Management.  Originally from Massachusetts, Patrick moved to North Dakota in 1999 and currently resides in West Fargo, ND.

 

Missy Ohe

Missy Ohe (O) has spent 20 years in sales.  She has founded five companies.  She was a cosmetologist for 13 years as well as a cosmetology instructor. 

Missy was the Ambassador for ND  for an international networking organization.

 

 

Sarah Bernhardt

Sarah Bernhardt, MA, LPC, is a Conflict Management Consultant at the UND Conflict Resolution Center.  Her roles at the Center include mediation, facilitation, training, education and marketing.  She received her initial family mediation and civil/employment mediation training from the Conflict Resolution Center and has had additional training in Teambuilding, Conflict Management, Facilitation, and Circle Processes.  She has presented at Conflict Resolution Minnesota and has been selected to present at the National Convention of the Association for Conflict Resolution in October 2009.  She received her BA in Psychology, BS in Social Work, and MA in Counseling from the University of North Dakota.  She is a licensed professional counselor and has 5 years of counseling and administrative experience in an inpatient psychiatric hospital setting.  Sarah was an intern at the UND Conflict Resolution Center as well as served on the Board of Governors for the UND Conflict Resolution Center prior to joining the Center as a staff member.

Jodee Bock

Jodee Bock isthe owner of Bock’s Office Transformational Consulting in Fargo, ND. She has more than 15 years of experience in the areas of corporate communication, media relations, executive coaching, and training and development. She holds certifications in life purpose and career coaching, Job Relations Training, Bob Proctor’s Life Success Consulting®, and Accelerated Innovation training and coaching from SolutionPeople in Chicago.

Whether facilitating master mind coaching in small groups, providing corporate training for specific objectives, or presenting a keynote to hundreds, Jodee’s fresh perspective on ordinary concepts and ideas gives participants new ways of thinking about challenges and goals for their own lives.

She is the author of the book The 100% Factor: Living Your Capacity and co-author of the books Inviting Dialogue and Don’t Miss Your Boat.

Today Jodee will share her ideas for establishing positive relationships within organizations by introducing a 4-step method for solving those pesky “people problems” many of us would rather avoid.

Jolean Pederson

Jolean Pederson has been employed at North Dakota State University since 2003 as the Associate Director for Public Health & Safety with the University Police and Safety Office.    Pederson holds a BS degree in Education, Advanced Safety Certificate from the National Safety Council and is a Certified Healthcare Safety Profession (CHSP) and Ergonomics Evaluation Specialist (CEES).  Pederson is responsible for overseeing the Loss Control and Claims Management Program and the Inspection and Fire Safety Programs, directs the implementation of the Risk Management Program, Online Safety Training, Ergonomics, Occupational Health & Safety for the Care and Use of Animals Programs, and is the University Wellness Coordinator.   Jolean assists with Emergency Response Planning, coordinates the NIMS Training and is an active member of the American Heart Association Go Red Committee. In addition, Pederson serves as the NDSU Loss Control Committee Chair, Accident Review Board Chair, North Dakota University System Loss Control Committee Member, CERT Member, State Medical Reserve Corp, and the National University Risk Management Insurance Association Membership Committee.

James Olney

James Olney, JD, has extensive experience in the field of employment practices, and was a litigation attorney for almost nine years before coming to Associated Financial Group. James has broad expertise in almost every human resources function related to having employees - from hiring and performance evaluations, to discipline and termination, and all points in between. In addition to working directly with employers, James regularly writes articles on employment issues, and presents in-depth seminars and instruction on a variety of subjects, including presenting courses for the University of Minnesota's College of Continuing Education. He also serves as an advisor and consultant for Associated Financial Group's executive risk department. James received his law degree from the University of Minnesota, and his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Washington University in St. Louis.

Joe Gerstandt & Jason Lauritsen

Talent Anarchy is the collaborative effort of Joe Gerstandt and Jason Lauritsen who have been in and out of trouble together for the past decade.  Both live in Omaha, Nebraska and both are originally from Northwest Iowa.  Both are happily married, both have two beautiful and talented children at home and both have their third on the way...but they are not the same person.  

Joe Gerstandt is a speaker, facilitator and blogger focusing on issues of diversity, inclusion, innovation and leadership.  He works with Fortune 500 Companies, small non-profits and everything in between.  A popular speaker and thought leader on next generation diversity and inclusion practices, he maintains a popular blog at OurTimeToAct.com and his insights have been published by The Diversity Factor, The American Diversity Report, the Workforce Diversity Newsletter and others.  

Jason Lauritsen is the Vice President of Human Resources for a regional bank and has more than ten years experience leading and transforming human resources and talent management efforts.  He has worked for small companies, large companies, and owned his own small business.  He has started two not-for-profit organizations and served on several boards of directors. From each of these experiences he brings a valuable perspective and skill set.  

Together, they are Talent Anarchy.

 

Kathy Kulesa

Kathy is the Human Rights Director for the Labor Department.  Her primary responsibility is to oversee the Department's case management system, which encompasses the administrative processing, investigation, and resolution of both human rights and labor standards complaints filed with the agency.

Kathy is a native of Jamestown, North Dakota.  She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in the Legal Assistant program from the University of Minnesota, Moorhead.  Kathy has been with the labor department since June 2002.  Prior to joining the department,  Kathy worked for Legal Assistance of North Dakota, Fargo Regional Office, for nearly 17 years.  She shares her time between the Bismarck office and an office in Fargo, North Dakota.

Tamara Anderson

Tamara is the Vice President of Instruction for Dale Carnegie Training of North Dakota.  Dale Carnegie Training partners strategically with companies in North Dakota and around the world to increase their capacity to execute and drive business results by improving the skills and changing the behaviors of their most valuable asset: people.  Tamara works with individuals to help them improve their performance in areas such as executive coaching, leadership, communication, emotional intelligence, presentations, team member engagement, and human relations.  She provides tailored training solutions for organizations by conducting business and training assessments, skill and attitude evaluations, and organizational analysis.  Tamara and the Dale Carnegie Training team help companies to facilitate change more easily, increase productivity by working more effectively with diverse groups of people, and improve bottom line results.  

Tamara received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks.  She is a Certified Dale Carnegie Trainer.  Tamara also brings over 16 years of business, leadership and sales experience to her facilitation.

Jay Lux

Jay serves as the Director of Organizational Effectiveness Consulting, leading the Change Management practice with FCCServices in Denver, CO.  Prior to joining the FCCServices team, Jay led the Workforce Management Consulting practice for Farm Credit Foundations/AgriBank in St. Paul, MN.  In this role, Jay worked with individual Farm Credit bank organizations to improve individual and organizational performance.  Prior to joining Foundations, Jay held roles in Human Resources Development with Naterra Land, Target Corporation, Wilson Learning Worldwide and Supervalu.   

Jay holds a Masters Degree from the University of St. Thomas in Human Resources Development and a BA from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire in Organizational Communication & Business.  Jay has been very active in professional organizations, such as the Society for Human Resources Management, Twin Cities Human Resources Association and The MN OD Network.  Jay has also served on the Board of Directors for Career Solutions, Inc., a nonprofit organization that helps displaced women identify the right fit in the workplace.   

Jay lives in Forest Lake, MN with his wife, Christy, of 16 years and their two sons, Aidan and Gavin.  In his spare time, Jay is a tournament water skier, downhill skier, mountain-biker and enjoys hiking with his family. 

Clint Swindall

Companies and associations across the nation are using his ideas to enhance the way people lead themselves and those around them. In fact, in addition to many state SHRM chapters, he has spoken for SHRM’s Employment Management Conference, the Annual Conference the past six years. He has also presented to the SHRM Leadership Conference the past three years. As a professional speaker, trainer, and author of the book entitled Engaged Leadership: Building a Culture to Overcome Employee Disengagement, he has delivered his programs in the United Kingdom, Mexico, Canada, South America and throughout the United States.

He has been recognized in the professional speaking industry as a Certified Speaking Professional. He is one of about 10 percent of speakers worldwide who belong to the National Speakers Association and the International Federation for Professional Speakers to hold this professional designation.
