The Division of Continuing Education houses several program areas through which you can take individual courses.
Correspondence & Online Studies (COS) has undergraduate courses for academic credit. Students can enroll at any time during the year (courses are not semester-based), may work at their own pace, and take up to nine months to complete a course. Courses through COS are delivered either online or by mail, may be applied toward an existing degree or can be organized into one of two degrees available entirely through COS.
Certificate Programs delivers courses that are not for academic credit, but rather to earn a certificate of completion giving the participant knowledge for career entry or advancement, or for personal enrichment. Students can take courses any time during the year (courses are not semester-based) and work at their own pace through courses that are delivered by mail or online. Participants do not need to enroll as UND students.
Distance Degree Programs (DDP) offers courses that are semester based (meaning they are tied to semester schedules). Courses through DDP are for academic credit, and are delivered in one or more of a variety of methods at a distance or face-to-face classes that fit busy students’ schedules.
Professional Development for Educators offers workshops for educators that can be taken for graduate credit. Participants can take face-to-face workshops at the scheduled times in the summer, or online workshops at any time (open enrollment). The credit earned through these workshops counts toward certification renewal and local school district salary-lane changes.
UND Bismarck offers a number of credit and non-credit courses, degrees and certificates. Since 1980, over 150 graduate students have graduated from the UND Bismarck Center.
UND Fargo Outreach offers a number of credit and non-credit courses, degrees and certificates in the Fargo area.
